A Week of Food

Monday I received a load of goodies from Newman’s Own Organic which I just can’t wait to try (and do I smell a giveaway?)  My husband and I broke into the Cinnamon Hermits right away and these were delicious! My husband brought the Original Newman-O’s with him on his trip to New Brunswick so I have yet to hear back his opinion of them.

Tuesday night we made pizza which was delicious it had broccoli, garlic, almond cheeze, pizza sauce and marinated buffalo “mozzarella” (AKA marinated silken tofu tester recipe).

For dessert we ate the entire box of Nicobella Vegan Dark Chocolate Truffles which were delicious.  The truffle flavors were Blueberry Almond, Ginger Green Tea, Pumpkin Chai, Pure Cocoa Bliss, Walnut Flaxseed Crunch, & Sunflower Banana Butter. Our favorites were Pure Cocoa Bliss and Blueberry Almond.

I received a bunch of samples of Non-Dairy Cheese Spread & Dip from Wayfare Foods. Currently you can only purchase We Can’t Say It’s Cheese in Montana and Florida for specific locations look here.    Wayfare Foods is looking to expand their market up to NY/MA/CT shortly after January 1st!  I received Cheddar Style Spread, Cheddar Style Dip, Mexi Cheddar-Style Spread and Hickory-Smoked Cheddar-Style Spread. I immediately dived into the Hickory-Smoked Cheddar with some reduced-fat Wheat Thins.   I then used some for my Thanksgiving Dinner- I mixed the Hickory-Smoked Cheddar with some brown rice, sauteed Brussels sprouts, white beans, garlic and shredded carrot.  It was delicious.  I used the Cheddar Style Spread on my veggie burger Friday night and made Mac and Cheese with it Saturday.  It was delicious!

For dinner last night I did some testing for Happy Herbivore’s upcoming cookbook – I made her Herbed Homefires and served it up with Vegan Brunch Tofu Scramble.

  1. Wow!! Awesome goodies you’ve received!!

We are addicted to Newman O’s, and I love their other products (and the company itself).

Your pizza looks fab. I think I am going to make the herbed homefries for breakfast today.

  2. I actually saw that “We Can’t Say It’s Cheese” at a health food store in Connecticut a couple of weeks ago. They had it out for sampling and for sale. I did try it, though I didn’t buy any ( it would probably be really good to put out if you were having a party). If a random health food store in CT has it, there may be luck for the rest of the country!

  3. vegan cheese looks so good. its not for sale in my country and im too lazy to make it myself

  4. How do you receive so many sample products?!? It seems you post about more than any other vegan blog I’ve seen! 😀

  5. Love Newman’s Own products! You are lucky to get to try all of that yummy looking stuff. I am also intrigued by the We Can’t Say It’s Cheese. I am always looking for new cheese substitutes, and based on their website, their stuff looks awesome!

  6. Girl, I just found your blog thru Jessie’s blog. And Wow. If you ever organize another swap, I am sooo in. I am a high raw, all vegan, gluten/soy free vegan. With a love for chocolate. So I love the looks of that choc bar in this post! 🙂

  9. Wow, I need to remember not to look at your site when I haven’t eaten yet! That pizza looks absolutely wonderful!

  10. What a great assortment of products to sample. The pizza looks so good I may have to make one tonight! Theo chocolate, a chocolate factory near where we live, has a partnership with Nicobella, and I’ve seen the Nicobella chocolates in the Theo shop.

  11. I’m with Meagan, your site is making me SO hungry! 😉
